Currently District Fire Chiefs and Fire District Boards from Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue, Byers Fire Protection District, and Strasburg Fire Protection District have been meeting and discussing the consolidation and merger of the two fire districts to better serve the communities along the I-70 Corridor.

This mega merger will combine over 1,300 square miles of fire district together and the formation of this fire authority will improve Fire/EMS services within the east metro communities.

exam

Written Exam

The Written exam will test your aptitude and problem-solving skills. Although some questions may be related to firefighting, no previous fire experience is required to successfully pass the written evaluation.

Physical Agility Test

The Physical Agility Test is a rigorous physical exercise that simulates many activities of the fireground. It is a timed exercise, although speed is not the primary concern. Your commitment and resolve will be one of the main focuses.

You should come prepared to lift, carry, drag, pull, climb, and move in an intense physical activity. It is highly suggested that you stretch out prior to participation.

Appropriate attire in the form of shorts, t-shirt, and athletic-type shoes are recommended. You will be wearing bunker gear on top of your street clothes. We also recommend bringing something to drink.

Interview

Oral Board

The Oral Board is your opportunity to show Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue what you can offer us and what knowledge you have of our fire department. Your oral board interview panel may consist of officers from each rank, fulltime firefighters, and current volunteer firefighters.

This can be a stressful experience, so being prepared by planning and reviewing what you know about Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue will make things easier.
